ABOUT

Hi, I'm Edie

The coach behind Coached by Edie. Health, fitness and sports have been a huge part of my life for as long as I can remember.

Where this started

I grew up playing competitive hockey and went on to play for Western University. Strength training came in around 14 and never left. Over the years, I've also gotten into running, completed a few marathons, played different sports, and continued to make training and movement a big part of my everyday life.

Alongside coaching, I'm also a high school teacher in Healthy Active Living and Kinesiology and have experience as an Athletic Director.

Why I coach the way I do

My background in education plays a huge role in the way I coach. I don't believe in simply telling someone what to do and expecting them to follow it forever. I want my clients to understand what they're doing, why they're doing it, and how they can continue applying what they learn long after our time working together.

My approach to fitness and nutrition is centered around creating realistic, lifelong changes. I don't believe in extreme diets, major cuts or approaches that you can only maintain for a short period of time. There may be seasons where we push toward a specific goal, but the bigger picture is always building habits and knowledge that fit into your real life.

Fitness should be something that adds to your life, not something that feels like a punishment.

Who I work with

I work with men and women of all different ages, backgrounds and fitness levels, from youth athletes looking to improve their performance to adults in their 70s and beyond who simply want to become stronger, healthier and more confident.

Whether your goal is fat loss, building muscle, improving athletic performance, increasing strength or simply feeling better, your coaching should reflect you, not a one-size-fits-all plan.

I want you to be able to enjoy food, social events, family life and everything in between while still working toward your goals.

EN FRANÇAIS OU EN ANGLAIS

Coaching in both languages

I'm also proudly bilingual. French is my first language and an important part of who I am and my family. I grew up speaking French in Northern Ontario, with my roots in French-Canadian culture, and I offer my coaching in both French and English. Being able to coach someone in the language they feel most comfortable communicating in is something that is very important to me.

Outside of coaching

I'm a mom, partner and dog mom. I love training, playing sports, running, being outdoors, spending time at the lake and staying active in ways that I genuinely enjoy.

Becoming a mom has also given me an entirely new perspective on balance, changing priorities and finding a place for fitness in every season of life without it becoming overwhelming or feeling like another chore on the list.

PRENATAL AND POSTPARTUM

Training through pregnancy and after

Going through it myself has added another layer to both my personal fitness journey and the way I coach. I trained throughout my own pregnancy, experienced a C-section delivery, and went through the process of rebuilding my strength and returning to training postpartum.

Along with my education and certification in prenatal and postnatal fitness, having experienced pregnancy, recovery and postpartum training firsthand has given me an even greater appreciation for how different every season and everybody can be. My goal is to help women feel supported and confident through these stages, while respecting their individual recovery, needs and abilities.

If you're training through pregnancy or working your way back after birth, I built a program for exactly that.
